46. Ruling On Suicide

Ruling on suicide and on offering the funeral prayer and praying for one who has committed suicide

Praise be to Allah.
Suicide is a major sin. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated that the one who commits suicide will be punished with something like that with which he killed himself.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be in the Fire of Hell, throwing himself down therein for ever and ever. Whoever takes poison and kills himself, his poison will be in his hand and he will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron, that piece of iron will be in his hand and he will be stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell, for ever and ever.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5442; Muslim, 109.

It was narrated from Thaabit ibn al-Dahhaak (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever kills himself with something in this world will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5700; Muslim, 110.

It was narrated that Jundub ibn ‘Abd-Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Among those who came before you there was a man who was wounded and he panicked, so he took a knife and cut his hand with it, and the blood did not stop flowing until he died. Allah said: ‘My slave hastened to bring about his demise; I have forbidden Paradise to him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3276; Muslim, 113.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) refrained from offering the funeral prayer for one who had committed suicide, as a punishment to him and so as to deter others from doing what he had done. But he gave the people permission to offer the funeral prayer for him, so it is Sunnah for the people of knowledge and virtue not to offer the funeral prayer for one who has committed suicide, following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn Samurah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man who had killed himself with a broad arrow-head was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he did not offer the funeral prayer for him. Narrated by Muslim, 978.

This hadith is evidence for those who say that the funeral prayer should not be offered for one who killed himself because of his sin. This is the view of ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez and al-Awzaa’i. But al-Hasan, al-Nakha’i, Qataadah, Maalik, Abu Haneefah, al-Shaafa’i and the majority of scholars said that the funeral prayer should be offered for him. They responded to this hadith by pointing out that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not offer the funeral prayer for him himself so as to deter the people from doing something similar, but the Sahaabah offered the funeral prayer for him. End quote.

Sharh Muslim, 7/47

This does not mean – if it is proven that your cousin did commit suicide – that you should not pray for mercy and forgiveness for her, rather you must do that because she needs that. Suicide is not kufr that puts a person beyond the pale of Islam as some people think, rather it is a major sin that is subject to the will of Allah on the Day of Resurrection: if He wills, He will forgive it, and if He wills He will punish for it. So do not neglect to make du’aa’ for her and be sincere in doing so; perhaps that may be the means of Allah forgiving her.

And Allah knows best.

45. 5 Reasons Why Allah Tests Us

1) Reveal the Patient from the Impatient:

And certainly, We shall test you with a bit of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits. But give glad tidings to the patient ones who, when afflicted with a calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.” They are those upon whom are the blessings, descend from their Lord, and they receive His Mercy, and it is they who are guided.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:155-157)

2) Remove our Sins and Reward the Righteous:

“And, when he was old enough to walk with him, he said: “O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so what do you think?” He said: “O my father! Do that which you are commanded, if Allah Wills, you will find me to be of the patient.” Then, when they had both submitted, and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead, and We called out to him: “O Ibrahim! You have fulfilled the dream!” Verily! Such do We reward the good-doers.” (Surah as-Saffat :102-7)

Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqas reported that he asked the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam : “Which of the people are tested most severely?” Rasulullah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam  replied: “The Prophets, then the righteous, then those who are most like them, then those who are most like them from the people. A man is tested according to his religious commitment. So, if his religious practice is sound, then his testing is increased, and if his religious practice is weak, then his testing is reduced. A servant continues to be tested until he walks the Earth without a single sin on him.” (Ahmad, Tirmidhi)

3) Purify the Ranks and Distinguish the Righteous from the Wicked:

“Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now until He distinguishes the wicked from the good.” (Surah Al ‘Imrân 3:179)

4) Emphasize the Hardships of This World in Comparison to the Hereafter:

“Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the kingdom, and He is Able to do all things. The One Who has created death and life in order to test you and see which of you is best in deed, and He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving.”(Surah al-Mulk 67:1-2)

5) Expose the Reality of the Human Being:

“Verily, We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it so that We may test them as to which of them are best in deeds.” (Surah al-Kahf 18:7)

44. 18 Benefits Of Prayer

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Allah the Exalted has said:
"And seek help in patience and in prayer. Surely that is something quite difficult on (people) other than people of humility and submissiveness" [A translation of the meaning of Soorah al-Baqarah (2):45

1 - Prayer is something that causes one to receive sustenance.
2 - It is something that safeguards one’s physical health.
3 - It keeps away harmful things.
4 - It casts away illnesses.
5 - It strengthens the heart.
6 - It brightens one’s countenance.
7 - It delights the soul.
8 - It gets rid of laziness.
9 - It makes the limbs active.
10 - It increases one’s physical strength.
11 - It expands the chest (making one at ease and giving him insight).
12 - It is nourishment for the soul.
13 - It illuminates the heart.
14 - It safeguards one’s blessings.
15 - It repels catastrophes.
16 - It brings on blessings.
17 - It keeps away the Shaytaan (the Devil).
18 - It draws one close to Ar-Rahmaan (Allah, the Most Merciful).

And overall it has an amazing effect on the health of the body and heart, and in strengthening them and expelling harmful pollutants from them.

No two people have been afflicted with any disability, disease, or other calamity, except that the portion of the one who prays is less and his outcome is cleaner.

Also, prayer has an amazing effect on the evils of the dunyaa (the worldly life) and how it repels them, especially when the prayer is performed properly and completely, inwardly and outwardly.

Nothing keeps the evils of the dunyaa at bay and brings on the benefits of it like prayer.

The reason behind this is that prayer is one’s connection to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

So based on the strength of a person’s relationship with his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, the doors of goodness will accordingly be opened up for him, bad things and the reasons for them befalling him will be cut off, and the elements of success granted by His Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, will begin pouring in, along with safety and good health, wealth and worldly riches, relaxation, bliss, enjoyment, and all types of joyful affairs will be brought to him, and in an expedient manner, too. [Zaad al-Ma’aad (4/304-305) of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Mu’assasatur-Risaalah, 4th ed., 1424]

43. The Garbage Thrower (A Heart Touching Story)

She thought till late at midnight and finally decided how to take revenge from him. She could not sleep all night, because she was too eager to take revenge for the idols she worshiped. Even before the first ray of sunlight had entered her window, she was busy sweeping her house. She saved all the garbage in a basket, placed it on the roof of her house and proudly looked at it for a while, then with an impatient look on her face, she looked at the street that she lived on, and thought, "No one has ever seen him angry. Everybody will praise me when they will see him shouting at me and getting mad. They will laugh at him and make fun of him." She looked at the basket again and grinned.

Meanwhile, she heard footsteps, announcing the approach of the end of her waiting. "Finally my prey has arrived," she thought, as she saw a man dressed in clean, white clothes coming that way. She picked up the basket in her hands and threw all the garbage on him when he passed by. Much to the woman's disappointment, he did not say anything and continued on his way.

She did the same the following day thinking, "Maybe this time I will be able to annoy him." But he was too gentle to shout at a woman.

She misinterpreted his attitude as fear and decided to repeat the same mischief everyday in order to keep him frightened, so that he might stop preaching the Oneness of God.

This gentleman whom the woman hated so much was Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the last prophet of Allah Almighty. He did not want to disappoint the woman and so continued to walk down the street everyday, instead of picking an alternate route, and prayed for the woman to recognize the Truth.

One day, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) did not find the woman to be on the roof of her house with the basket. This worried him, because he thought something must have happened to her for not being over there. So he knocked at the door. "Who is it?" asked a feeble voice. "Muhammad bin Abdullah," was the reply, "can I come in?" The woman feared, "I am sick, and too weak to fight or talk back, therefore Muhammad has come to take revenge for what I have been doing to him." But the permission to enter her house was in such a gentle voice that she allowed him in.
Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) entered the house and told the woman that not finding her on the roof had worried him and he thus wanted to inquire about her health. On finding out how ill she was, he gently asked if she needed any help.

Hypnotized by the affectionate tone in the Holy Prophet's (Peace Be Upon Him) blessed voice, she forgot all fear and asked for some water. He kindly gave her some in a utensil and prayed for her health, while she quenched her thirst. This made her feel very guilty for being so cruel to him in the past and she apologized for her mean behavior.

He forgave her and came to her house everyday to clean it, to feed her and to pray for her, till she was on her feet again.

The kind attitude of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) inspired her into the recognition of the Truth, and his prayers were answered in the form of yet another addition into the growing number of Muslims.

42. Haraam Relationship

Today's world is lot more involved in this fitnah. It's a natural tendency of human to get attract to opposite males. As we live in a world were their is lots of interactions or meeting with opposite gender.

As per shariah, one may speak to opposite gender if and only if it's very necessary or is important. We go to schools, college and universities where it's co education and also their are make lecturers to teach.

If we are born and bought up in an Islamic background and have sound knowledge of Islam, what is right and wrong. Which are the limitations in Islam. What is allowed and prohibited, what is Halaal ad Haraam, we will find it easy to cope up in a surrounding which we live today.

Most of the universities and colleges are co-education. This is the phase of hormones for girls and boys. And without these feeling, hormones and desires one may not be a human. Because a man in created with all this.

To fulfill this in Halaal way Nikah is destined. But, today alot of people who knows about Deen yet they fall in this glitch. If you love someone, please make it Halaal. You can feel the same love. You can express your emotions and feelings and fulfill everything in Halaal way.

Instead of opting for dating through Haraam ways, get married date each other in Halaal way and see the barakah Allah will put in your life.

The actual age for marriage starts after you all attain puberty. Even though you are not eligible to get married according to the government. But in the eyes of Shariah you have the right to marry. When you make things Halaal it will be the best for you.

You need not have your wife with you. You can just have Nikah and ruqsati can be done later once you get settled or complete your studies.

Nikah do not stop you from anything, absolutely nothing. It insteads increases khair, barakah, mercy of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala as well as knowledge.

But Haraam relationship will destroy everything, it causes forgetfulness, sins, takes away barakah and khair and anger of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will be sent upon you all.

To date is okay, to marry you guys are young. Look at what you guys are leading yourself to? To date Haraam way is perfectly okay, it's lovely, it's cool and what not. To marry and spend the same moments is orthodox, it's 90's days, it's old school thoughts.

No matter which year comes the shariah and the teachings of Islam will change. No matter how much the world westernises or modernize. Islam will remain same.

Kindly keep this in mind. Quite Haraam relationship, say no to Haraam. It destroys your Imaan, Say yes to Nikah and gain the Love of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. To marry you don't need money, bank balance, house and degree. You just need to know the rulings of Islam and follow what is Halaal. If you can strive to be away fron Haraam in this world of fitnah then well and good. You can marry when you get settled. But if you cannot then get married as soon as possible. You never know if you get chance to repent or change yourself.

Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says:
“Do not come (even) near to adultery, for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil, opening the road to other evils.” (Surah Israa, Ayah 32)

May Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala grant us all understanding and Halaal love in our lives who will be righteous for us.

41. Water

Water is a great gift of Allah (The Exalted). Without it we will not survive. Humans as well as animals drink water. Both Muslims as well as non-Muslims drink. Everyone has a different way of drinking.

A Muslim's way should be according to the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.

Hence, when we drink water or any other liquid in accordance to the Sunnah, our drinking becomes a rewardable act.

The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam liked sweet and cold water. The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam never made a noise whilst drinking water and when he salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would drink milk, milk shake, (Sharbat) etc. he would give others first and then take himself.

Drinking With The Devil

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that, 'Once the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam saw a person drinking whilst standing, the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam asked him to vomit it back out', the person ask 'Why shall I vomit it out!' the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said 'Surely who drank with you is worse than a cat, that is the devil'.'

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) states that, 'The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam forbade drinking water standing up. It was asked, 'What about eating'' he said, 'That (i.e. eating whilst standing) is even worse'.'

We see Muslims' walking in the town centers today eating and drinking whilst standing. Even at gatherings some eat and drink whilst standing and are ignorant of the Sunnah way. Let us take the sayings of the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam seriously and start practising them wherever we are.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam that, 'Do not drink water standing up, if you do it by mistake and you remember then vomit it out.'

This is the importance of drinking whilst sitting. To drink water standing up is disliked (Makrooh-e-Tanzihi ) and we don't want to displease Allah (The Exalted) and His beloved Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The Sunnah is only beneficial and to save oneself from any harm to the health. It is praiseworthy (Mustahab) to drink the water of ablution standing up also the water of Zam Zam as this is Sunnah.

Zam Zam
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) states that, 'I presented some Zam Zam water to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) he stood up and drank it.'

Respected brother / sister! We are Muslims and we have been taught the manners of drinking. We should drink whilst sitting as even research has proved that to drink standing is bad for health. Muslims do not pay much attention in the Sunnah manner of drinking. Do not emulate or feel ashamed of the non-Muslims, as we have been given a way which is the best as it is shown by the best of all creation, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

One of the reason's for drinking Zam Zam standing is because it is the Sunnah of the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and the other reason is for respect. Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Na'eemi (may Allah's mercy be upon him) states that water drank by the pious can also be drank standing up.
Supplication for Zam Zam
Allahumma Innee Asaluka 'Ilman naafiaw Wa Rizqaw Wasi 'Aw-Wa 'Amalan Mutaqabbalaw Wa Shifa ammin Kulli Daa'
'O Allah! I ask You for beneficial knowledge, increase in wealth, accepted deeds and cure from illness'
whatever supplication you make after drinking this blessed water will be accepted. We should make good supplications for yourself, family and the Ummah.
Drinking Like a Camel
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam that, 'Do not drink water in one breath like a camel. However, drink it in two or three breaths. Say 'Bismillah' and when you move the glass, praise Allah (The Exalted) by saying 'Alhamdulillah.''
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that, 'The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would breath three times (outside the container) in the course of a drink and said; 'It is more thirst quenching, harmless and healthier.''
Do Not Blow On Hot Stuff
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that, 'The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam forbade from breathing or blowing in the container.'

Research proves that when one blows in a hot drink, the bacterium increases in the drink. These bacteria's you will drink and will increase in the stomach, as there is warmth and this will create more illness in the stomach.
Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Naeemi (may Allah's Mercy be upon him) writes, 'The tongue that has been engaged in the dhikr of Allah (The Exalted) and the air that is released thereof is a cure for illness.'
Drink From Your Hands
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) states that, 'Wash your hands and drink from your hands as there is no glass or object cleaner than your hands.'

This is the Sunnah of Prophet Isa ‘alayhi wa sallam . You can drink with your hands and use both hands and it is not permissible to drink with just one hand as water is wasted. People may want to practise the Sunnah by drinking with the hands, however, bear in mind that water or any drink is not wasted.
Wasting Water
Some people where with Shaykh Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah's Mercy be upon him) a person had drank some water and threw the rest away. The Shaykh said, 'You should not throw away the left over water, you could have placed it in another container as at the moment we have plenty of water, this is the reason we do not value a sip of water.'
Suck The Water
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam that, 'Suck the water when drinking, as it will digest easily and prevents illness.'
How Did The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam Drink'
The glass was held in the Prophet's salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam right hand and he would sit down and pray 'Bismillah.' The method of drinking is to take three small sips by sucking the water without making any noise and moving the glass away from the mouth each time and praising Allah (The Exalted) each time by saying 'Alhamdulillah' and at the end the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would say 'Ash-shukru-Lillahi.'
Respected brother/sister in Islam! If you see any Muslim drinking with their left hand then advise them in a nice way and instruct them to act upon the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and gain the reward of reviving a Sunnah. Jazakallah Khayrah.
Cover The Utensils
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that, 'The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam commanded us to cover any utensils, to close the tops of water bags and to turn the containers over.'
This is done when there is nothing to cover the utensils. Specially at night as there is a day in the year where difficulties descend and enters the utensils that are open. In the hadith it states if there is no cover then use a stick (i.e. pen etc.) and recite 'Bismillah' and place on top of the utensils.
Serving
Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said that, 'One who serves should drink last.'
Best Charity
Sa'ad bin 'Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that, 'I came in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and asked what type of charity do you like' He said, 'Water'.'
Fire In Stomach
Umm Salma (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said that, 'Whosoever drinks from silver enters fire in their stomach.' Allahu Akbar!
In another hadith narrated by Huzaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam forbade eating and drinking from gold or silver and said that, 'These are for the non-believers in this world and for you in the hereafter.'
One should also bear in mind that to wear a watch made from gold or silver or to use a pen with a tip of gold or silver is a sin.
Manners Of Drinking
1. Pray 'Bismillah Hirahma Niraheem' and drink with your right hand as the devil drinks and eats with the left hand.

2. To sit and drink.

3. Drink by taking three separate sips and not all at once. Separate the utensil from the mouth each time.

4. Whilst drinking, suck the drink and do not make a noise.

5. Do not blow into any drink for cooling.

6. Say 'Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Aalameen' after drinking.

7. It is not permissible to throw away the left over drink.

8. Always cover the water that is left in a glass, jug or pot.

9. Drink where you can see in the container.
Supplication After Drinking Water
'Alhamdulilla Hilladhi Saqana 'Adhbann Furotann Birrahmatihi Walam Yaj'Alhu Milhann Ujajann Bidhunoo Binaa'
'All praise is due to Allah (The Exalted) who has given us fresh sweet water through His mercy and did not make it salty and bitter due to our sins'
Supplication After Drinking Milk
Pray 'Bismillah' and pray this supplication after drinking milk:
'Allahumma Baarik Lana Feehi Wazidna Minhu'
'O Allah grant us blessings in it (the milk) and increase it for us.'
Milk has both nutrients of food and drink. When a child is born all it has is milk and this is sufficient for so many months. This is why we should thank Allah (The Exalted) and ask Him to increase it for us.
10. Not to drink from a big container like a jug or bottle etc. but from a cup or glass.

11. One should not drink from a chipped end of a cup.

12. The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam has prohibited the usage of gold and silver utensils.

13. In the hadith it states, whoever makes utensils make from earth for their house, as the angles visit that house.

14. Drinking water after meals is not the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam especially, if the water is very hot or cold as both are harmful.

15. There is cure from (the drink) that a Muslim has drunk from.

16. One serving should drink last.

17. Nowadays, many people drink with the left hand mostly whilst eating and think it is against the practice to drink with the right hand, the Islamic practice is to drink with the right hand.

18. To cover the utensils when not in use, be it with a stick if nothing else is available.

Imam Shafi states that four things make the body idle, excessive sexual intercourse, too much thinking, too much drinking of water when hungry, and too much pepper.
The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would use utensils for drinking made from earth. He had a wooden cup , which had on its exterior a metal handle, and he would drink liquids from this.

In another narration narrated by ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had a glass cup.
O Allah (The Exalted) give us the ability to practise the Sunnah of Your beloved Messenger salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam whilst we drink. Ameen.

38. Five Fears Of A Muslim

1. Fear that Allah may take his faith away from him.

Many of us live our lives in such comfort that we are not concerned about losing our Imaan. We think just because we are Muslim at this moment in time, we will stay like that, yet we forget the smallest action can nullify our Imaan. To the extent, many of the islamic scholars mentioned that a single thought which is Kufr can make one leave the fold of Islam.

2. Fear that the recording angels may write down something that may expose him on the Day of Resurrection.

Some of us are so careful when committing evil deeds to make sure that our friends and family do not see us, but how foolish are we to think that the record keeping angels are not monitoring our every action and thought. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says,

‘So, by your Lord O Muhammad salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam , We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do.’ [Quran 15:92-93]

3. Fear that the Shaytan may cause his deeds to become invalid.

The true believer should always be on guard, to purify his speech and actions from the misguidance of Shaytan. We should remember that it is very easy to nullify our deeds by a simple intention and thus we must constantly make sure that all of our deeds are done with sincerity and with following the method (Sunnah) of the Prophet Muhammad salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam .

4. Fear that the Angel of Death may come to him without warning.

When this unexpected guest arrives knocking at your door, you cannot turn him away, nor can you ask him to return at a later time, but rather the time is fixed and appointed. We must ensure that we are always doing the good deeds, so that maybe our last deed before we leave this dunya is in obedience to Him. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says,

Say: ‘The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then you shall be brought to your Lord.’ [Quran 32:11]

5. Fear that this world may tempt him and distract him from the Hereafter

One of our biggest temptations in this dunya. We become so busy in chasing this dunya, the cars, the money, the fame, the houses the businesses etc, but yet we forget that the one who chases the dunya never gets the akhirah, but the one who chases the akhirah will get the akhirah and the dunya.

May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala allow us to fear Him the way He deserves to be feared.

Aameen.

37. What To Say Before You Sleep

WHAT TO SAY BEFORE YOU SLEEP

1. If after Isha one does not have anything important to do like any Religious or any other commitments then one should go early to bed and avoid useless talk and gatherings. Going to bed early assists one in waking up early for worship as well as waking up fresher for the new day in order to work or to carry out daily tasks.

2. Recite: Bismillah بِسْمِ الِّ (In the name of Allah) before closing the doors of the house, before covering utensils with food in them, switch off or turn off fires, light etc (Bukhari) If one cannot find anything with which to cover the utensil then one should place a stick across the top of the utensil. (Muslim-Vol.2, pg.170)

3. To discuss with family members matters pertaining to Islam like stories of the Sahaba’s or reminders that will help increase Imaan (faith). Or to simply talk about matters that please them without getting into useless talk. (Tirmidhi)

4. Children who are aged nine or ten years of age should be separated from females in one room and males in another. (Mishkaat)

5. Apply Surma (Kohl) in each eye three times (Mishkaat)

6. To lay or spread the bed oneself (Muslim)

7. Before climbing into bed, dust the bed thrice with the corner of your clothes.
(Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)

8. Recite ‘Bismillah’ when removing clothing as it is a cover and protection from Jinn and Shaytaan.

9. To make Miswaak before retiring.....

Recite
(Cup your palms together , blow gently into them)

RECITE AYATUL KURSI

Allaahu laa 'ilaaha 'illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoom, laa ta'khuthuhu sinatun wa laa nawm, lahu maa fis-samaawaati wa maa fil-'ardh, man thal-lathee yashfa'u 'indahu 'illaa bi'ithnihi, ya'lamu maa bayna 'aydeehim wa maa khalfahum, wa laa yuheetoona bishay'im-min 'ilmihi 'illaa bimaa shaa'a, wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samaawaati wal'ardha, wa laa ya'ooduhu hifdhuhumaa, wa Huwal- 'Aliyyul- 'Adheem.

Allah! There is no God but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never encompass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

LAST TWO VERSES OF SURAH AL -BAQARAH.

'Aamanar-Rasoolu bimaa 'unzila 'ilayhi mir-Rabbihi walmu'minoon, kullun 'aamana billaahi wa malaa'ikatihi wa Kutubihi wa Rusulihi, laa nufarriqu bayna 'ahadim-mir-Rusulihi, wa qaaloo sami'naa wa 'ata'naa ghufraanaka Rabbanaa wa 'ilaykal-maseer. Laa yukallifullaahu nafsan 'illaa wus'ahaa, lahaa maa kasabat wa 'alayhaa mak-tasabat, Rabbanaa laa tu'aakhithnaa 'in naseenaa 'aw 'akhta'naa, Rabbanaa wa laa tahmil 'alaynaa 'isran kamaa hamaltahu 'alal-latheena min qablinaa, Rabbanaa wa laa tuhammilnaa maa laa taaqata lanaa bihi, wa'fu 'annaa, waghfir lanaa warhamnaa, 'Anta Mawlaanaa fansurnaa 'alal-qawmil-kaafireen.

The Messenger believes in what has been send down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say: "We make no distinction between any of His Messengers," and they say: "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return." Allah burdens not a person beyond what he can bear. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us. Our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Protector, and help us against the disbelieving people.

Bismika Rabbee wadha'tu janbee , wa bika 'arfa'uhu, fa'in 'amsakta nafsee farhamhaa, wa 'in 'arsaltahaa fahfadhhaa, bimaa tahfadhu bihi 'ibaadakas-saaliheen.

With Your Name1 my Lord, I lay myself down ; and with Your Name I rise . And if my soul You take , have mercy on it , and if You send it back then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves.2

Here, dying and living are metaphors for sleep and wakefulness. This explains why the normal order of these words has been reversed in this Hadith. In other contexts the living is mentioned before dying. See Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:258, Aal-'Imrdn 3:156, Al-A'raf 7:158 among many other examples, (trans.).  SURAH AS-SAJDAH (32)
 SURAH AL- MULK(67)

SAY    SUBHAN ALLAH        (33 times),
               ALHAMDULILLAH   (33 times) and
          ALLAHU AKBAR        (34 times)

Prophet Mohammed salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised us 1400 years ago to start our sleeping mode on the right side, why?…..…

Scientists say that sleeping on the left side is not favored, as the heart would be under the pressure of the right lung, the biggest of the two lungs, and this would affect its contraction especially if the person is old.

Also they assure that the full stomach which itself is under the pressure of the heaviest organ in the digestive tract, the liver, which delays its emptying, would also impose a pressure on the heart.

Hence they advise people to sleep on the right side especially for patients by any heart disease.

Glory to Allah!!! Who told our Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam this medical advice?
