Can I read Durood Tunajjeenah/Tanjina to solve my problems? Is
it from the Sunnah?
We don’t need to read Durood Tunajjeena or any other Durood
that’s not narrated from the authentic Sunnah in times of trouble.
Or ANY other time.
The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam did NOT narrate
anything like that.
Then why go after something that’s not found in the Sunnah?
WHY in the world would the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam
come in some person’s dreams, hundreds of years after his death, and teach him
something that he didn’t teach the Sahaabah?!
Was this person, no matter “WHO” he was, claim to be “better” than
the Sahaabah?!
WHY would the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam SECRETLY
tell this man something that was supposed to be “SO HELPFUL” to all of us in
times of trouble?
Wouldn't the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam have told
EVERYONE about it?
Aoodhu billaah it's not like he hid something! Or “forgot” to
tell the Ummah?!
Astaghfirullaah.
Remember the Deen is COMPLETE.
NOTHING can be added or deleted to it after the Prophet Sal
Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam passed away.
But there’s NO PROOF that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa
sallam himself or the Sahaabah EVER read this Durood or ANYTHING like this,
individually OR as a group.
If it was good they would have read this Durood.
*But they DIDN’T.*
So if it wasn’t good for them, *then HOW can it be good for
us?!*
The scholars said regarding this Durood:
“This format of sending blessings upon the Prophet Sal Allaahu
Alaiyhi wa Sallam is MADE UP; it was NOT narrated in the Sunnah or report.
It is well known that dreams and visions can NOT be used as
evidence for rulings or as the basis for righteous deeds, so it is NOT
PERMISSIBLE to rely on them in order to prove the virtue of this format of
sending blessings upon the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam.
The religion of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala is COMPLETE and PERFECT, as He says: “This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion” [al-Maa’idah 5:3].
The Messenger Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam conveyed it to us in
FULL and he did not conceal anything of it.
Hence it is SUFFICIENT for the Muslim to follow that which is
PROVEN and soundly narrated from the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam and
*there is NO NEED to prescribe any act of worship or regard it as mustahabb on
the basis of dreams.*
The Muslims should be keen to follow the Prophet Sal Allaahu
Alaiyhi wa Sallam and not introduce innovations into the religion.” (Islamqa
Fatwa # 128801)
For example:
“There is no god but Allaah, the All-Powerful, the Forbearing;
there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne; there is no god but
Allaah, Lord of heaven, Lord of earth, and Lord of the noble Throne.”
(al-Bukhaari, Muslim).
(It is) the du’aa’ of Dhu’l-Noon:
لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين
“Laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen
“None has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah),
Glorified (and Exalted) be You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]!
Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers.”
According to another report:
“No Muslim man says this du’aa’ concerning anything but Allaah
will answer his prayer.”
(Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuhu)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ ، وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ ، وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ

(O Allaah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your
maidservant; my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever
executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to
You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught
to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen
with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my
breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety),’
*but Allaah will TAKE AWAY his DISTRESS and GRIEF, and REPLACE
it with JOY.”*
He was asked: “O Messenger of Allaah, should we learn this?”
He said: “Of course; everyone who hears it should learn it.”
(Ahmad- saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah)
And there are others.
*And you’ll NEVER get confused, in any matter pertaining to the
Deen*
The Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said: ”For indeed, those who will still be alive after me will see many differences; so hold fast to my Sunnah, and to the sunnah of the rightly guided Khalifahs after me,Adhere to it and cling tightly to it and beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is misguidance.“ (At-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, others-- hasan sahih).
May Allaah guide us and enable us to follow the TRUE teachings
of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam. Ameen.
And Allaah knows best.
