The answer is yes, it is not permissible in Islām to watch movies, TV, or any videos in general if they contain any the following haraam content:
Music:
Any video which contains background music or music in general is haraam to listen to.
Opposite gender:
Any video which contains women (even if they're dressed “modestly”) is haraam for men to watch. Any video which contains men is not allowed for women to watch. Allāh commanded both men and women to lower their gazes.
Uncovering of ‘awrāh:
Any video which displays the 'awrah of a person is Haraam to watch (navel to knee). However, for a man, all of the woman is 'awrah for him and it's not permissible for him to look at any part of her (even her fingernails).
Haraam or Immoral actions/speech:
Any video which shows haraam or immoral actions is forbidden to watch.
Ex: Zina (fornication), Magic, Dancing, Free-mixing, Romance, touching/kissing/hugging between opposite genders, inappropriately dressed people, vulgar language, lewd & filthy topics, etc.
Spreading corrupt beliefs and calling for imitation of the kuffār:
Any video which promotes corrupt beliefs such as kufr, sodomy, adultery, etc.; or calls for the imitations of kuffār such as dressing like them, living like them, copying their lifestyle and social habits etc. - is not permissible to watch.
So O Muslims, beware of this growing Fitnah! Fear Allāh and do not fall into the sin of watching movies and TV. Its evil consequences are numerous and this is a sin which is present in the homes of many, many Muslims. Protect yourselves and warn your family and friends. This is a sin that should not be taken lightly.
"Tell the believing men to lower their gaze, and protect their private parts. That is purer for them. Verily, Allāh is All-Aware of what they do.
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze, and protect their private parts..."
[24:30-31]
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allāh…”
[31:6]
