382. Specific Duas Or Ayaat For Specific Problems?

 By Asma Bint Shameem

*Specific Duaas or Aayaat for specific problems? A “wazeefah” for this and a “wazeefah” for that?*

A duaa is a *”request”* to Allaah.

Rather Allaah LOVES that we ask Him.

We MUST *change* our way of thinking and get out of this ‘wazeefah’ mode; and stop looking for ‘formulas’ for solving our problems.

Instead we should simply spread out our hands and ASK.

We need to learn to TALK to Allaah.

We should make duaa in our own words and in our own way.

The duaa that comes from the heart will reach the skies.

So beg Allaah for whatever your issues are.
ASK Him to take care of them.

Allaah LOVES that we ask Him and implore Him.

He likes to HEAR from us; although He already knows what we want.

It shows our humility and how much we NEED Him.

It shows His Greatness and Complete Power.

So hold out your hands.
And ask.

Make duaa especially at times when duaa is more likely to be accepted such as in the middle of the night or in between adhaan and iqaamah or when it rains or when you’re in sujood in your Salaah etc.

This is a very common misconception amongst us.

A lot of people think there are ‘special’ duaas or ‘specific’ Aayaat to be read for each specific problem that they may face in their lives.

So they look for specific words, specific duaas or special ‘wazeefaas’ for each issue.

They think if they read a certain duaa ‘X’ amount of times for such and such a problem, then that problem will ‘magically’ disappear.

They assume that each problem has a different duaa that should be read, that will ‘solve’ that problem;
kind of like a different ‘pill’ for each different disease.

For example they ask:
What duaa should I read for my son who’s become ‘stubborn’?
Or
What wazeefah should I read because I want to get married?
Or
What should I read to make my husband ‘more loving’ to me?
Or
What Aayaat should I read because my mother in law is ‘mean’?

And so on.

They think if you have ‘this’ problem, then there’s Duaa ‘’A’ to solve that.

And if you have ‘that’ problem, then there’s Duaa ‘B’ to fix that.

And if you have another problem, then read Aayah ‘C’ to take care of that.

*A wazeefah for this and a wazeefah for that*.

But that’s NOT how it works.

Generally speaking, there are NO specific duaas for each and every problem in our life.

Or ‘specific words’ to say for each and every different challenge we may face.

Remember, there are NO ‘MAGIC SPELLS’ in our Deen.

Allaah has said in the Qur’aan that He will definitely TEST us throughout our lives in various different ways.
And we will face challenges, some tougher than others.

And He has shown us ways and means to get through those challenges and tests.

Some of those are:

1. Duaa:

The Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has explained to us the concept of duaa, the GENERAL guidelines regarding duaa and the times most likely for duaa to be answered.

So when we are tested, we should make use of these “general” guidelines to make duaa to Allaah for ALL our problems and situations, instead of looking for these ‘magic spells’ and wazeefaas to ”instantaneously” ‘solve’ these problems.

ALL you have to do is simply
SPREAD OUT YOUR HANDS and ASK in your OWN WORDS.
NO specific wordings.
NO special wazeefaas.

Make duaa in Salaah during your sujood and in tashahhud before salaam. And in other times.

Say it in your own language if you don’t know Arabic.

Make duaa especially in those times that duaa is more likely to be accepted such as in the last part of the night, in between the adhaan and iqaamah, at the time of breaking your fast, when it rains etc and Allaah will respond.

Learn to TALK to Allaah.
He’s listening.
Open up your heart and POUR OUT your worries to Him, like you would to a friend;
TELL Him your problems although He already knows it.
But He likes to hear it from you.

He LOVES when His slave is dependent on Him...
BEGS Him...
seeks HELP  from Him.

So TRUST Him with all your affairs.
And ASK.
He WILL respond.

2. Take a good look at yourself.

Another thing we need to do when we are faced with problems and challenges is to take a GOOD LOOK at our own lives.

Are WE doing something that is bringing on this problem?
Are WE disobeying Allaah in any way?

That’s because Allaah says:
“And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.”
(Surah ash-Shooraa:30)

So if there’s anything you can mend, DO so.

If there’s something you’re doing that you shouldn’t be doing, STOP it.

If there’s any shortcomings in your life, FIX it.

3. Istighfaar

Allaah quotes Nuh Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam and says:
"'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;
'He will send rain to you in abundance;
'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers."
(Surah Nuh:10-12)

So make a LOT of Istighfaar.
And ask Allaah’s forgiveness.
Make SINCERE Taubah.
He will bless you in your provisions, and children and health.
He will provide relief for you and deliver you out of all your problems.

4. Turn to Allaah in OBEDIENCE

Obeying Allaah is a means of solving all our problems.

He says:
“And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things.” (Surah at-Talaaq: 2-3)

The MORE you OBEY Allaah, the MORE BLESSED your life will be.

Allaah will make a way out of every difficulty for you. He will SUFFICE you.

BOTTOM LINE
If you’re having problems in your life, or challenges you’re facing, instead of looking for specific duaas and ‘wazeefaas’ to ‘magically’ fix those problems...

TURN to Allaah.
OBEY Him.
Make a lot of Istighfaar.
And make Duaa in your own words.

That’s ALL you have to do.
Then leave the rest to your Master and Creator.
He will take care of it all.

And Allaah knows best.
