21. Healing Comes From Allah Alone

But out of His Immense Mercy, our Rabb has shown us the ‘means’ that will facilitate the healing process with His Permission.

The secret behind this is that we should put our full trust, reliance and Tawakkul in Allaah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, as it is ONLY HE that is the source of all healing and cure.

So we should read RUQYAH on the sick person from the Qur’aan and duas from the authentic Sunnah, or other good duas asking Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to heal them quickly.

FROM THE QUR’AAN

1. Surah Faatihah -odd number of times
2. Aayatul Kursi
3.The last two Aayaat of Surah al-Baqarah
4.The last 3 Surah of the Qur’aan.

FROM THE SUNNAH

Some of the duas are:

1. Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa said that when any of us fell sick, the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam would wipe him with his right hand then say:

أَذهِبِ البَاسَ ، رَبَّ النَّاسِ ، وَاشفِ أَنتَ الشَّافِي ، لا شِفَاءَ إِلا شِفَاؤُكَ ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

“Adhhib il-ba’s, Rabbi l-naas washfi anta al-Shaafi laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uka shifaa’an laa yughaadir saqaman

“Remove the harm, O Lord of mankind and heal him, for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing, with a healing which does not leave any disease behind.”
(al-Bukhaari, Muslim)

2. ‘Uthmaan ibn Abi’l-‘Aas al-Thaqafi radhi Allaahu anhu complained to the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam about some pain that he had felt in his body since he became Muslim.

The Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to him:
“Put your hand on the part of your body that hurts and say:

‘Bismillaah (in the name of Allah)’ three times, then say seven times:

أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ وَقُدرَتِهِ مِن شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ "

“Aa’oodhu billaahi wa qudratihee min sharri maa ajidu wa uhaadhir”

‘I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I find and I fear.’” (Muslim)

3. Jibreel Alaiyhis-Salaam came to the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said:

O Muhammad, are you sick?

He said: “Yes.”

He said:

Bismillaahi Arqeek, min kulli shay’in yu‘dheek, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘ainin haasidin, Allaahu yashfeek, Bismillaahi Arqeek

“In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye may Allaah heal you, in the name of Allah I perform ruqyah for you.” (Muslim)

4. Abu’l-Darda’ radhi Allaahu anhu said:

“I heard the Messenger of Allah salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam say:

“Whoever among you suffers some sickness, or his brother suffers some sickness, let him say:

Rabban-allaahul-ladhi fis-samaa’i, taqaddasa ismuk, amraka fis-samaa’i wal ardh, kamaa rahmatuka fis-samaa’i faj’al rahmataka fil ardh, ighfir lanaa hawbanaa wa khataayaanaa, anta Rabbut-tayyibeen, anzil rahmatam-min rahmatik, wa shifaa’am-min shifaa’ika alaa haadhi-hil waja’

‘Our Lord Allah Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, You will is done in heaven and on earth; as Your mercy is in heaven, bestow it upon the earth. Forgive us our sins. You are the Lord of the good. Send down some Your mercy and healing upon this pain,’ and he will be healed.”

Abu Dawood - saheeh by al-Haakim and hasan by Ibn Taymiyah in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (3/139)

5. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:

“The one who visits a sick person who is not dying, and says seven times in his presence,

As’alullaahal Adheem Rabbal arshil adheem an-yashfiyak

‘I ask Allah the Almighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, to heal you,’ Allah will heal him from that sickness.”
(Abu Dawood -saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood)

Shaikh Assim al-Hakeem said:
“You can recite Ruqyah on yourself by gathering the palms of your hands and reciting the Ayaat into them and then blow in your hands and wipe the area that is ill and hurting you.

You can also bring Zamzam water preferably and recite 3, 5 or 7 times the following over it and blow every time you recite it:
Al Fatiha,
Ayatul Kursi,
the last 2 verses of Suratul Baqarah and
the last 3 Surah of the Quran.

You can add add to that any Prophetic Dua’a and blow on it.
Drink from this water in the morning , in the afternoon and before going to bed and also you can wipe with it over the places that hurt you.”

May Allah give all who are sick, a quick and complete shifa. Ameen.
