13. Supplication for Sa'i

The following was said by the Prophet before beginning Sa'i

'Innas- Safa and al-Marwah min- Shaa-'irllah.

"Verily, as-Safa and and al-Marwah are of the symbols of Allah".

At each and the pilgrim should ascend the respective Mount and facing the qiblah say, "Allahu Akbar " three times, followed by

La 'ilaha illallahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer. la 'illaha illallaahu wahdahu, 'anjaza wa'dahu.wa nasara'abdahu, wa hamzal 'ahzaaba wahdahu.

"There is no god but Allah, alone, having no partner. Sovereignty is His, and [all] praise is His, and he has ability over all things. There is no god but Alah, alone, who fulfilled His promise and helped his servant and defeated the [rebellious] parties alone."

He may then make his own supplication. This procedure ( beginning with the words there is no god but Allah) should be repeated 3 times if time permits.

There is no particular supplication established in the sunnah of Allah's Messenger salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam to be made between as- Safa and al-Marwah. However, some of his companions, including Ali, Abdullah Bin ' Umar and 'Abdullah Bin Masud, used to supplicate this:

Rabbeghfir warham wa antal aazzalkrama.

"My Lord, forgive and have mercy, for you are the most Mighty and Honorable."

In addition to the aforementioned supplication any other supplication from the Quran or the sunnah may be recited, or one may offer his own du'a or praise of Allah.
