46. The Night Halt At Muzdalifah

After the prayers the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam lay down until dawn and did not get up that night to offer tahajjud prayers.

When the moon had set, he sent the weak among his family [women and children] to Mina, giving them instructions not to throw the pebbles at the largest jamrah before sunrise.

The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam got up at early dawn  and led the congregational fajr prayer after an adhan and iqamah.

He then mounted al- Qaswa and went to al-Mash ar al-Haram.

He faced the qiblah, supplicated to Allah, and declared His greatness and His unity.

However, it is not essential for every pilgrim to stand near the mosque of Muzdalifah, as the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:
"I am standing here, but the whole of Muzdalifah is a place of standing".
