49. The Four Devotional Acts Of The 10th Of Dhul-Hijjah

The 10th of Dhul-Hijjah  is a busy day for the pilgrim.

On this day he is to perform the following devotional acts, which are mentioned in order, according to the sunnah:
1. Throwing the seven pebbles.
2. Slaughtering the sacrificial animal.
3. Shaving the head (or shortening the hair).
4. Performing tawaf al- Ifadhah.

If a pilgrim does not follow the prescribed order for some reason, there is still no harm.

And it is preferable to perform all of the four devotional acts during the day of the 10th, although there is no sin in delaying them ayyam at- tashreeq (the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah).

On this day the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam delivered a brilliant speech at Mina after which he answered additional questions from people regarding hajj, which included the following:

A man said that he forgetfully shaved his head, to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

A man said that he had slaughtered his animal before the rami,to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

A man said that he had his head shaved before slaughtering, to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

A man said, "I performed tawaf al-Ifadhah before rami, that to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

A man said that he had performed tawaf before slaughtering, to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

A man said that he had done the rami in the evening, to which the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied," There is no harm".

In short, on the day the Prophets salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam answered all of the People by replying, "There is no harm."
